THE FLORA & FAUNA OF THE MONTS d'AMBAZAC

The forests and countryside around Mallety are a natural haven for all kinds of wildlife and plants, the area even has a protected peat bog! At night you will hear the owls hooting and the toads communicating with one another in their typical tones. The forests are home to deer and wild boar but you are unlikely to see them except for at dawn or dusk! The woodpecker is often hammering away up in the trees outside the workshop and red squirrels are indigenous, quite a change from the grey squirrels we are used to. You will find an abundance of trees, wildflowers, ferns and heathers and no matter what time of year there is always something to see and enjoy, from the bluebells in the spring, to the rich hues of autumn.
